This is the first freighter delivery to an airline in China since the US-China trade war reignited when the US imposed tariffs on China earlier this year
US headquartered Boeing has reportedly delivered the first of two 777 freighters to Suparna Airlines in what is the first freighter delivery to an airline in China since the US-China trade war reignited.
According to Reuters, Boeing carried out the delivery on Wednesday 24 September and announced it via its WeChat account on 25 September.
Boeing has not issued an official release about the delivery on its website, but Air Cargo News has reached out to the aircraft manufacturer for comment.
Nearly 60 Boeing 777 freighters are already flying at six Chinese carriers, Boeing said.
This freighter delivery is significant as airlines in China were allegedly told in April to stop accepting deliveries of Boeing aircraft due to the ongoing US-China tariff dispute.
But in May, the ban was seemingly lifted following talks between the US and China that resulted in a 90-day suspension of the trade war and authorities in China began instructing carriers that deliveries of aircraft manufactured in the US could resume.
The tariff pause was subsequently extended for another 90 days to 10 November.
In May, China Airlines formally ordered four 777-8Fs from Boeing following its announcement in December that it planned to invest in the new generation cargo aircraft model.
