Capital A unit taps Asia¡¯s growing demand for aircraft maintenance

KULAI: Capital A Bhd¡¯s engineering arm Asia Digital Engineering Sdn Bhd (ADE) plans to tap the growing demand in the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) market in Asia, and give current aircraft MRO leader Singapore a run for its money.
ADE¡¯s optimism is based on anticipation of its new MRO facility at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) being up and running next year.
Its CEO Mahesh Kumar said after the launch of its MRO facility in Senai here today that ADE can serve up to seven aircraft (seven lines) at one time with its three MRO hangars at KLIA, Subang and Senai currently.
¡°We are planning to build another big facility. It will be operational next year. It would be able to take 14 lines at a time. We have already started the construction process,¡± said Mahesh, according to a Bernama report.
¡°On completion, we would have 21 lines in total. From our point of view, from seven to 21 lines offer a lot of growth opportunities,¡± he said, adding that ADE is servicing AirAsia aircraft and other airlines.
Mahesh said there is demand for MRO services. Although Singapore is the leading aircraft MRO market in Southeast Asia, the city state is experiencing stagnant growth due to limited space and rising costs.
