Etihad Cargo and SF Airlines Link Up Networks

Etihad Cargo and China-based express carrier SF Airlines have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to link their respective networks.

The MoU will see the two carriers operate flights via their two hubs starting in April. Etihad said the tie-up would enable it expand its reach into China with an extra 25 destinations via SF Airline’s in-country network.

Etihad Cargo said the deal would provide greater market access to key destinations in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

“This MoU is the latest step by Etihad Cargo in expanding its operations in China and will see the carrier utilising SF Airlines’ Chinese network to transport cargo to other destinations in China via the Chinese carrier’s Hubei Province mega hub,” the Middle East based carrier said.

Etihad Cargo will utilise one of its B777 freighters for the flights to Hubei which will commence on April 28.

Martin Drew, senior vice president – global aales & cargo at Etihad Airways, said: “Strengthening the connection between Abu Dhabi and one of SF Airlines’ major Chinese hubs will enable Etihad Cargo’s customers to benefit from SF Airlines’ exhaustive distribution capabilities in China, and SF Airlines will reap the benefits of Etihad Cargo’s global network for its express product.

Li Sheng, chairman of SF Airlines, added: “SF Airlines is excited the two companies can work together to connect hubs and strength the network of both airlines.

“SF Airlines is looking forward to this cooperation, which will offer good value to customers and enable them to develop their international business with more convenient and diversified global transportation options.”

Last week, SF Airlines announced the expansion of its European network with the addition of flights to Belgium.

Meanwhile, Etihad Cargo has been boosting its flights into China as Covid restrictions have been eased.

Under this background, the Smart Aviation Logistics International Forum will be held on July 13th-14th ,2023 in Beijing Daxing Airport. The forum was hosted by Shanghai Society of Aeronautics, supported by Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone (Langfang) Administrative Committee and Logistics Investment and Financing Branch of China Transportation Association. The forum will mainly focus on Industry New Policies Guidance, aviation logistics Digital Transformation, Data Security and Management, cost reduction and efficiency increase.
