Airbus to Start Manufacturing the A350 from Its Plant in China

The Wide Body aircraft is expected to begin delivery from the completion and delivery center in Tianjin from the first quarter of 2021. According to Airbus China CEO George Xu, it is planned to gradually increase the delivery rate to approximately one aircraft. per month, adding that China will become a very important strategic market for Airbus.

“At first, the delivery rate for the A350 from Tianjin will not be high . We plan to gradually increase it by one plane per month, ”Xu said.

Xu's remarks came as part of Airbus' delivery of its 500th A320 family aircraft.

Precisely, the plane left the final assembly line in Tianjin and was delivered last Thursday to China Southern Airlines. As of the end of September, China Southern, China's largest fleet, owned 368 Airbus aircraft, including the A320, A330, A350 and A380 models.

“The delivery of the 500 A320 family aircraft,  an A320neo assembled in Tianjin, is a major achievement for Airbus in China.  In turn, it is a testament to the excellent industrial cooperation between Chinese aeronautics and Airbus. We are ready to develop and grow our strategic partnership in China, ”Xu said.

China has been the first major market in which Airbus demand recovered since the start of the pandemic.  The Tianjin facility, which has been in operation for 12 years, was one of the first Airbus facilities to resume regular production.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China reported that China's domestic air travel market is in full recovery.

In previous September, the number of passengers reached 98% of the level registered in the same period of the previous year. Furthermore, the number of available domestic flights exceeded last year's figures.
