Homegrown C919 aircraft begins serving passengers between Shenzhen and Shanghai

A C919 aircraft owned by China Eastern Airlines, carrying 161 passengers, arrived at Shenzhen Baoan International Airport on Sunday, marking the start of commercial service on the route between Shenzhen and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport.

The aircraft departed Shanghai at 9:28 a.m. and landed in Shenzhen at 11:30 a.m.

Starting Monday, China Eastern Airlines will operate a daily round-trip service between Shenzhen and Shanghai Hongqiao using the C919.

Outbound flight MU5351 departs Shanghai Hongqiao Airport at 17:40 and arrives at Shenzhen Baoan Airport at 20:05, while return flight MU5360 departs Shenzhen Baoan Airport at 21:30 and arrives at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport at 23:55.

The Shenzhen–Shanghai Hongqiao route is the busiest at Shenzhen Baoan Airport, currently served by seven airlines with 82 daily round-trip flights, making it a high-frequency business and public transport shuttle.

In the first four months of this year, passenger traffic on this route increased by nearly 10% year-on-year, reflecting strong travel demand and vibrant economic activity between the two cities.
