In recent years, China's aviation market has seen sustained growth in passenger, cargo, and mail transportation demand, driving continuous expansion in civil aviation capacity. Both the existing fleet size and incremental growth have shown steady increases. According to relevant data, by the end of 2023, China's civil aviation transport fleet reached 4,270 aircraft, with 896 CAAC-approved maintenance organizations. The domestic aviation maintenance market scale hit 78.59 billion yuan.
With the expansion of aviation operations and airline fleets, the volume of faults and scheduled maintenance checks has risen year by year, significantly increasing pressure on aviation material (aviation parts & inventory) support. The growing variety of aviation materials, coupled with more complex supplier and distributor networks, has made large-scale inventory management and supply chain collaboration a major challenge. Issues such as poor data sharing and inefficient partnerships hinder supply chain coordination, impacting airlines' operational efficiency and cost control. Factors like flight schedule adjustments, unexpected maintenance demands, and market volatility further complicate the forecasting of aviation material needs.
On the other hand, the increasingly complex international environment—marked by uncertainties in U.S.-China relations, escalating geopolitical conflicts, and sluggish post-pandemic economic recovery—has adversely affected the civil aviation maintenance industry. Foreign OEMs continue to erect technical barriers while expanding into aftermarket maintenance services, driving up costs for aviation materials and repair services. This poses potential risks to Chinese maintenance enterprises heavily reliant on imported parts and overseas repairs (primarily from Europe and the U.S.). Additionally, long-standing industry bottlenecks further compound challenges. Enhancing technical capabilities and service efficiency has become a critical imperative for industry players.
The 30th Maintenance and Spares Support Conference, organized by the Aviation Material Mutual Assistance Alliance and hosted by the Shanghai Society of Aeronautics, will take place in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, on September 9–10, 2025, with Tianjiao Airlines as the rotating chair. The forum will focus on aviation maintenance technology advancements and topics such as aviation material production, trading, mutual assistance, and sharing. The event is expected to attract over 400 participants, including leaders from engineering, maintenance, and spare parts departments of 40+ domestic and international passenger/cargo airlines, as well as representatives from OEMs (Boeing, Airbus, COMAC), MROs, aviation material/component suppliers, maintenance equipment/tool providers, digital maintenance technology firms, and other supply chain stakeholders.
