With the global air transport market continuing to recover, coupled with the strict constraints of carbon neutrality targets, new energy technologies have evolved from a “backup option” for the aviation industry to a “core growth area.” The rapid rise of the low-altitude economy has provided verification scenarios for sustainable aviation fuels, hydrogen-powered systems, and electric propulsion systems to transition from the laboratory to actual operations. Market forecasts from COMAC, IATA, and other organizations all indicate that the number of new civil aircraft and passenger demand will continue to rise over the next two decades, opening a clear market pathway for the large-scale deployment of these technologies. New-energy aviation is now at a historic turning point, poised to make the leap from R&D validation to industrial-scale delivery.
The industrialization of new-energy aviation relies heavily on systematic support from the R&D sector. Comprehensive inspection, testing, airworthiness certification, and validation across the entire supply chain—from materials to components to complete aircraft—constitute the critical quality safeguards for new-energy aircraft, from design and drawing release to delivery and operation; meanwhile, the simulation, design, and data integration capabilities of industrial software directly determine the efficiency of R&D iterations and the controllability of manufacturing costs. Currently, general-purpose technologies in the upstream segment of the industry chain—such as materials testing, airworthiness certification, and industrial software—still face shortcomings including inconsistent standards, incomplete verification systems, and a low rate of domestic toolchain adoption. There is an urgent need to integrate data interfaces and establish quality closed-loop systems across the “design–manufacturing–testing–airworthiness” stages, thereby forming a comprehensive support capability covering the entire development cycle of new energy aircraft. This will provide a solid foundation for the large-scale delivery of various types of new energy aircraft, including those for the low-altitude economy.
Against this backdrop, the 2026 New Energy Aviation Industry Congress, themed “Laying the Foundation Through R&D · Technological Breakthroughs—Key Leaps Toward the Industrialization of New Energy Aviation,” focusing on four major areas: the industrialization of sustainable aviation fuels, the engineering of hydrogen-powered aircraft, the practical application of electric propulsion systems, and the development of supporting manufacturing capabilities. The congress will feature in-depth discussions on topics including inspection and testing technologies for new materials and structural components, airworthiness certification and test verification systems, industrial software and digital simulation toolchains, and the development and support of “three-electric” systems. The congress brings together leading aircraft manufacturers, research institutes, materials suppliers, testing and certification bodies, industrial software companies, and academic and research institutions to establish a platform for technical exchange and industrial collaboration. It aims to advance new energy aviation technologies from the laboratory to the production line and support the industry’s high-quality development.
