Guizhou Launches Its First Specialized Aerospace Industry Patent Pool, Focusing on Core Areas such as Aerospace Basic Materials
Recently, Guizhou Province's first specialized aerospace industry patent pool was officially established and put into operation. The patent pool is led by the National Intellectual Property Operations Center for Aerospace Equipment Industry (Guizhou), focusing on two key core areas: aerospace basic materials and high-end castings and forgings. It has now gathered 7 member units and aggregated over 60 high-value core patents. The launch of this patent pool effectively fills the gap in Guizhou Province for a centralized intellectual property operations platform specialized in the aerospace sector, providing solid IP protection to resolve key core technology bottlenecks, overcome "bottleneck" challenges, drive scientific and technological self-reliance in the aerospace industry, and empower high-quality industrial development.
Aerospace basic materials and high-end castings and forgings are the core foundation for the R&D and production of aviation equipment, a critical link in ensuring the autonomy and security of the aerospace industry and supply chains, and an important breakthrough point for Guizhou Province to implement the national innovation-driven development strategy and achieve scientific and technological self-reliance. Previously, the province's aerospace industry faced prominent issues such as fragmented patent resources, insufficient industry-academia-research collaboration, and low efficiency in translating scientific and technological achievements, which constrained the overall innovation capability and core competitiveness of the sector.
To precisely address these bottlenecks and align with national and provincial strategic plans for aerospace industry development, the National Intellectual Property Operations Center for Aerospace Equipment Industry (Guizhou) has spearheaded the construction of the patent pool. The Center established a dedicated task force to conduct a comprehensive survey of high-quality patent resources from provincial enterprises, universities, and research institutions, formulated specialized management regulations for the patent pool, and strictly adhered to the operational principles of "unchanged ownership, centralized operation, and contribution-based distribution." Through multiple industry-specific seminars, the operational rules and working mechanisms were iteratively refined, steadily achieving the physical establishment, standardized management, and routine operation of the patent pool.
The launch of this specialized aerospace industry patent pool represents an important initiative for Guizhou Province to revitalize existing scientific and technological innovation resources, streamline the commercialization chain of R&D achievements, and stimulate industrial innovation vitality. By establishing a one-stop patent cross-licensing operations platform, it effectively dismantles technical barriers along the industry chain, significantly reduces innovation R&D and technology application costs for market entities, leverages IP system innovation to strengthen the foundation for autonomous and secure aerospace industry development, and effectively transforms scientific and technological resource advantages into tangible drivers for high-quality industrial growth.
In the next phase, the National Intellectual Property Operations Center for Aerospace Equipment Industry (Guizhou) will systematically summarize the mature experience gained from the pilot program, continuously optimize the patent pool operations management system, enhance the quality and efficiency of centralized IP operation services, accelerate the development and deployment of patent pools for aerospace subsystems, and continuously expand the pathways for IP-empowered industrial upgrading. The Center aims to establish itself as a benchmark for aerospace intellectual property operations in Western China, contributing to the high-quality development of Guizhou's aerospace industry and supporting the broader national effort to build a leading aviation powerhouse.
