120 Will Come from China, Indonesia's Whitesky Group Announces 200‑Unit eVTOL Fleet Deployment Plan

Indonesian aviation group PT Whitesky Aviation Group plans to expand its electric vertical take‑off and landing (eVTOL) fleet to up to 200 aircraft by 2036, as part of its strategy to grow its advanced air mobility (AAM) business in Indonesia.

Denon Prawiraatmadja, founder of Whitesky Group, stated on August 21 in Tangerang: "Under the current plan, 120 of these will come from China, 30 from Japan, and 50 from Indonesia. The company will implement the plan in phases, based on technology maturity, regulatory and infrastructure readiness, and the development of Indonesia's AAM market." Previously, Whitesky had already signed eVTOL letter‑of‑intent orders with AutoFlight and Volant Aerotech.

Expanding this fleet is a key component of the company's long‑term strategy to scale operations and enhance its comprehensive operational capabilities in the next‑generation air mobility industry. Denon added: "Our goal is not only to build a sizable fleet, but also to establish complete operational capabilities covering aircraft, infrastructure, maintenance support, safety management, talent development, and market cultivation."

The eVTOL fleet will be deployed in scenarios such as airport shuttles, urban air mobility, business travel, transport within industrial parks and tourist areas, as well as inter‑regional and inter‑island connections.

Whitesky Group is also planning to build a supporting ecosystem, including vertiports, charging infrastructure, maintenance facilities, training systems, safety assurance frameworks, and a professional aviation workforce.

Through its "HEXIA – Road to Zero Carbon Helicopters" program, the company brings together airlines, technology manufacturers, regulators, investors, academic institutions, and potential users to accelerate market cultivation and preparation, fostering collaborative development in the advanced air mobility sector in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

Denon concluded: "In the next decade, we hope Whitesky will not only be an airline operator, but also evolve into one of Indonesia's AAM operators with regional competitiveness in scale, operational capability, and ecosystem development."
