After market close on October 9, Bohai Leasing released two consecutive announcements: a wholly-owned subsidiary under its holding company Avolon Holdings Limited signed aircraft purchase agreements with Boeing and Airbus respectively on the same day, for a total of 250 aircraft, plus purchase options for an additional 100 new-generation technology aircraft.
Since the start of this year, Bohai Leasing’s share price has traded largely sideways, down 0.99% year-to-date. Its only daily limit-up in 2026 occurred on March 24, and the stock has been stable recently.
250 Aircraft Ordered from Boeing and Airbus in One Day
According to Bohai Leasing’s post-market announcement on October 9, Avolon Aerospace Leasing Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Avolon, signed a Purchase Agreement and related documents with Boeing on the same day (Dublin time) to acquire 140 B737 MAX aircraft. Calculated at Boeing’s published list prices, the total value of the order will not exceed US$26.953 billion, with the actual purchase price discounted from the list price. The aircraft are scheduled for delivery through the end of 2036.
On the same day, an Avolon subsidiary also signed a revised aircraft purchase contract and related agreements with Airbus, for 110 new-generation technology aircraft including 75 A320NEO family aircraft and 35 A330NEO family aircraft. The deal also includes purchase options for 100 additional new-generation technology aircraft: 75 A320NEO family aircraft and 25 A330NEO family aircraft.
Calculated at Airbus’ published list prices, if all options are exercised, the total value of 150 A320NEO family aircraft will not exceed US$18.707 billion, and 60 A330NEO family aircraft will not exceed US$17.784 billion. The aircraft are expected to be delivered progressively through the end of 2035.
The announcement states that aircraft payments will be made in installments tied to each aircraft’s delivery schedule, with advance payments paid in phases and the remaining balance settled upon delivery. Funding will come from Avolon’s own capital, self-raised funds and future operating cash flows.
As of the end of Q2 2026, Avolon had approximately US$12 billion in available liquidity, providing sufficient financial capacity to fulfill the purchase contracts. By the end of Q3 2026, Avolon’s fleet stood at 1,092 aircraft, comprising 561 owned aircraft, 32 managed aircraft and 499 aircraft on order (excluding this new order). It serves 138 airline customers across 62 countries worldwide, and 89% of aircraft scheduled for delivery in the next 24 months already have lease commitments.
Bohai Leasing stated that the transaction will strengthen its order backlog, improve bargaining power, reduce acquisition costs, enhance competitiveness in the global aircraft leasing market, and consolidate market share and brand recognition. The performance of the purchase contracts will have no material impact on the company’s 2026 operating results, but willgenerate positive returns in future years. The proposals have been approved at the company’s 7th extraordinary board meeting in 2026, and remain subject to shareholder approval via special resolution.
