Currently, domestic civil aviation demand continues to rebound, and fleet holdings are steadily rising. With wide-body cargo aircraft entering service in batches and intensive deliveries of new domestically developed passenger aircraft, alongside continued operation of legacy classic models, mixed fleets of multiple generations and configurations have become commonplace. As core power equipment, aero engines face mounting maintenance support pressures: aircraft daily utilization has increased markedly, routing maintenance windows have been drastically squeezed, unscheduled engine removals and AOG events are on the rise, imposing stringent time requirements for on-site troubleshooting and component rotation.
The global aviation supply chain has yet to fully recover. Extended lead times for critical materials and elevated import costs hinder heavy maintenance scheduling and new engine installation progress. Traditional aircraft spares strategies lean heavily on stockpiling common components, while shortages of high-value time-limited parts and rotable parts remain acute. Standardized risk assessment frameworks for compliant adoption of PMA parts and salvaged serviceable parts are absent, leaving gaps in tiered procurement and quality traceability. Digital transformation progress varies among operators. Engineering verification and scaled application of new technologies including engine health monitoring, intelligent bore inspection, AR-assisted maintenance and additive manufacturing repairs remain uneven. Mixed fleets lack model-specific differentiated maintenance schemes and dynamic spare engine allocation logic. Amid the transition between legacy and new engine models, older engines suffer complex faults accompanied by shrinking OEM support, while capability certification and tooling development for independent maintenance of new engine types are still underway. Coupled with inconsistent cross-border airworthiness standards, ambiguous coordination among multiple stakeholders and incomplete independent maintenance regulations, these issues continuously restrict efficiency improvement and cost optimization across the full engine maintenance chain.
