China Eastern Airlines Takes Delivery of 5th Home-grown COMAC C919 Jet
AircraftmanufacturerCommercialAircraftCorporationofChina(COMAC)hasdeliveredthefifthC919narrow-bodyairlinertoChinaEasternAirlines. TheChinesestate-ownedmanufacturerdeliveredtheaircraft,registeredasB-919F,ferryingitfromShanghaiPudongInternationalAirport(PVG)toShanghaiHongqiaoInternationalAirport(SHA)onMarch2,2024,asreportedbyChinaDaily.Thetwo-month-oldaircraft,soontolaunchpassengerservices,featuresatwo-classcabinlayoutaccommodatingupto164passengers. TheB919FmarksthefinaldeliveryoftheinitialbatchoffiveC919aircraftorderedbyChinaEasternAirlinesin2021.Thecarrierhadpreviouslyreceivedfourdeliveries:theB-919A,B919C,B919D,andB919E. ChinaEasternAirlineshasreceivedthefifthhomegrownC919aircraft. ThecompanyboughtfiveC919passengeraircraftfromCommercialAircraftCorpofChinaonMarch12021. China-US Team Creates World’s Strongest Titanium Alloy with 3D Printing Technology in ‘Significant Breakthrough’

Pioneering Air Traffic Control Simulations Pave the Way For eVTOL Operations
AnewgenerationofgreeneraviationhasleapedforwardfollowingtheUK’sfirstmajorairtrafficcontrolsimulationsforAdvancedAirMobility(AAM),demonstratinghoweVTOL–electricverticaltake-offandlandingaircraft–orflyingtaxis–couldonedaybesafelyintegratedwithconventionalairtraffic. ThesimulationswerethelatestmilestonefortheAdvancedMobilityEcosystemConsortium,agroupofleadingaviation,technologyandtransportorganisationsdemonstratingthecommercialandoperationalviabilityofAAM.TheconsortiumisaFutureFlightChallengeprogrammejointlyfundedbyUKResearchandInnovationandincludesVerticalAerospace,VirginAtlantic,AtkinsRéalis,Skyports,NATS,ConnectedPlacesCatapult,CranfieldUniversityandWMG–UniversityofWarwick. UnderNATS’proposedconceptofoperations,eacheVTOLoperatorwouldfiletheirflightplansviaanapplication,whichwouldthenbeapprovedoramendedasrequired.Thewholeflightwouldthenbeentirelydeconflictedfromotheraircraftbeforeeventakingoff,withthe‘AirspaceManager’functionmonitoringtheairspacefromadigital‘mastercontrolroom’. DirectvoicecommunicationbetweeneVTOLpilotsandairtrafficcontrolwouldonlyberequiredbyexception,andwhiletheAirspaceManagerfunctionwasfulfilledbyapersonduringthesimulations,itcouldonedaybealmostentirelyautomated. NATSbelievesthisproposedconceptstrikesthebestbalancebetweenensuringsafetyandprovidingairspaceaccesstonewuserswithoutaddingtotheworkloadofairtrafficcontrollersorpilots. AChinesefour-seathydrogeninternalcombustionaircraftprototypecompleteditsmaidenflightonMondayinShenyang,NortheastChina'sLiaoningprovince. Theaircraft,whenataflightaltitudeof200meters,hassufficientpowerandanacceptablelevelofvibrationwhileproducinggoodperformance,accordingtoXuXiaoben,whoservedasthetestpilot. Theaircraftis8.2metersinlengthandiscapableofhigh-pressuregashydrogenstorageofupto4.5kilograms.Thecruisingspeedofthisaircraftis180kilometersperhour.
